Shari Holly serves as a Director of DEI Strategy & Operations, dedicated to shaping an entertainment industry that mirrors the rich diversity of the real world. “I’m driven by the mission of broadening opportunities for people of color in arts and entertainment, where we’re currently underrepresented,” says Shari. With a lifelong immersion in the arts, Shari’s talents span dance, musical theater, and the expressive realm of slam poetry during her college years. “At my core, I’m a boundless creative spirit, and the arts resonate profoundly with me,” she affirms. What is the key to finding success in the entertainment industry?
Because this is a competitive, vast, and influential industry, being proactive about your craft, about networking, about putting yourself out there and shooting your shot will always increase your chances of finding opportunities and success versus waiting for them to come to you. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!
What inspired you to become a Director DEI Strategy & Operations in the entertainment industry?
The entertainment industry is always evolving, allowing for many paths of creativity, and there is always something to learn. I work in DEI because I want to be a part of creating an industry that reflects the diversity of the real world.
How does First Entertainment benefit you as a creator of entertainment?
Because entertainment is such a unique industry, especially regarding how people earn and manage their money—full-time, contractors, etc.–it’s important that a financial institution understands the needs of the industry and serves it members in an equitable way, which First Entertainment Credit Union does well.
How is First Entertainment different from other financial institutions you’ve banked with in the past?
I haven’t had great experiences with traditional banks, which is why I switched to First Entertainment. It’s been a drastic difference. The credit union has a much more accurate understanding of what I need.
What has your experience been like using our digital banking?
I use First Entertainment’s digital banking all the time! It’s super-convenient. I have the mobile app, and it’s not only easy to navigate but super-intuitive.
