TV Writer Jorge Ramirez-Martinez is a trailblazer! As a first-gen college student, he carved a path to success in Hollywood, Calif. by earning an MFA in Film Production from the illustrious University of Southern California. Starting out as an assistant on film sets, Jorge soon found himself disheartened by industry’s stereotypical portrayals of Mexican-Americans. Fueled by a fierce determination, he pivoted from assisting to activism and delved deep into the art of writing, ultimately launching a transformative screenwriting career. His mission? To infuse the screen with authentic, culturally rich depictions of Mexican-American life. From his heartfelt short film Amor Familiar to the mesmerizing journey of Selena Quintanilla in Selena: The Series, Jorge’s pen wields unforgettable stories that resonate with the essence of pride, passion, and perseverance. What inspired you to become a TV Writer?

“I was inspired to be a TV writer by the opportunity to create characters people fall in love with.”
