What is the best bit of advice you can share for aspiring creators of entertainment?
Be inclusive. Everyone should have the right to belong, to have an opportunity to pursue their passions without obstacles getting in their way. I have the ability, especially when I’m making my own films, to be inclusive.
When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a creative career in the entertainment industry?
I remember being in complete awe. I was 10, and there was a big Hollywood movie filming in town. Big smoke machines, motorcycles going, the streets were shut down. It was magic. Then, one day, my uncle gave me a camcorder. That’s when visual storytelling became my passion.
Do you feel that First Entertainment Credit Union really understands the unique needs of the creators of entertainment?
Definitely. I’ll never forget walking into First Entertainment Credit Union to get my first car loan. As a P.A., that was a game changer! It allowed me to work! Later, getting a personal line of credit gave me that sense of security between jobs — without the worry of getting gouged by some crazy-high interest rate.
