Maya Cryor

We enjoyed catching up with this exceptional filmmaker, discussing her relentless efforts to foster diversity in Hollywood and how partnering with First Entertainment since 2017 is helping Maya reach her financial goals.

Maya Cryor was born in Philadelphia with dreams of becoming a Hollywood filmmaker who would empower underrepresented communities with her powerful stories. Ambitious and determined, Maya made her way to L.A., where her talents as a production assistant quickly gained recognition in the entertainment industry. Assisting on popular shows and award-winning TV specials, she mastered the intricacies of production. Now, when she’s not on set, you can usually find Maya writing and producing her own projects. We enjoyed catching up with this exceptional filmmaker, discussing her relentless efforts to foster diversity in Hollywood and how partnering with First Entertainment since 2017 is helping Maya reach her financial goals.

What is the key to finding success in the entertainment industry?

“The key to finding success is having faith and working hard. It can be a challenging industry to work in, but my faith in Jesus and building a strong work ethic has helped me overcome many odds. Plus, having fun! Entertaining is about having fun and doing it with people who have the same mindset as far as how we can connect with people and do it visually.”

What inspired you to want to pursue an entertainment career?

“As a kid, I would create scenes in my head with different songs playing in the background. In high school, I was in plays and musicals. So, once I moved to L.A. it was a no brainer for me to write and produce my own projects. I’m a very visual person and I enjoy developing concepts and ideas that are fun and have meaning.”

Why is it important to you to represent underrepresented voices in your work?

“It is important because there are stories out there that need to be told, that need to come to life so folks can know they are not alone in whatever circumstance or struggle they are going through. Everyone deserves a chance to share their story and deserves a chance to tell their story in the most creative way possible.”

How does First Entertainment benefit you as a creator of entertainment?

“First Entertainment Credit Union offers plenty of options for creators to save their money and not have to worry about fees. It’s helpful because many creators freelance, and getting paid is not always consistent.”

What has your experience been like with our digital banking?

“The app is user-friendly and convenient, which has saved me a lot of time!”

How would you compare your experiences with First Entertainment with other financial institutions you have banked with?

“First Entertainment has a staff that is always courteous and patient. I plan to stay a member for as long as you continue to show customers you care and are ready to serve them!”

Everyone deserves a chance to share their story and deserves a chance to tell their story in the most creative way possible.
